16.3 Diverting Foreign Currencies

The very introduction of a moderately sized military force to a region (e.g., village, town, city, metropolitan area, groups of villages, and geographic radius) brings with it the expenditure of money on local goods and services. Where the money is spent, and the type of money that is being spent, are things that should be taken into consideration for strategic purposes before introducing personnel to any new region, and also for the potential to influence transactions and resource availability in regions with no plans to directly introduce personnel. The two general variables for this are: type of currency , and direction of currency flow. While there are a wide variety of specific strategies with a multitude of variables, this provides us four main options regarding the strategic manipulation of cash flows, two of which are related to foreign currency .
